OKFN Energy Lab

“The Open Knowledge Foundation (OKFN) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting open knowledge in all its forms.” Under that mandate they have built everything from tools to projects to communities with international partners, working by the same kind of ethos that applies to the content they promote. They have now come up with Lab Sprints, week-long work sessions to bring together a group of experts to create data-driven applications that can work through problems in various areas. “Our first sprint will focus on the theme of energy. Ensuring a sustainable energy supply without depleting natural resources and destroying the environment we live in is one of the toughest challenges we face. We need to understand what can be achieved with smart technologies and good policy in order to produce sustainably, to reduce consumption and to bring down emissions.”
